Dr. Nicola Aust holds a PhD in Science from the University of Muenster, Germany. She did a postdoc at the University of Houston, USA with J.K. Kochi before joining BASF’s central research in Ludwigshafen in 1999. After her initial work in organic synthesis, she shifted her focus to electrosynthesis of intermediates, aroma chemicals, and agrochemicals.
In 2012, Dr. Aust embarked on an expert career at BASF and is now a Senior Principal Scientist heading the research team “Electrosynthesis” that is working in the broad field of organic electrosynthesis. Moreover, she provides plant support for the electrochemical production plant for aromatic acetals and aldehydes located at the BASF site in Ludwigshafen. Dr. Aust is an active member of the German Chemical Society (GDCh).
Since 2023, she has served as deputy chair of the board of the GDCh Division “Electrochemistry”.
