About SMART 2017

SMART 2017 is the second Conference in the series. The first SMART Conference was held in Pontignano in 2014.

The main goal of SMART Conferences is to bring together researchers working in the fields of Subdivision, Geometric and Algebraic Methods, Isogeometric Analysis and Refinability, with special emphasis on new emerging research areas.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, Algebraic and Differential Geometry, Computer Aided Design, Curve and Surface Design, Finite Elements, NURBS and Isogeometric Analysis, Refinability, Approximation Theory, Subdivision, Wavelets and Multi-Resolution Methods.

SMART 2017 is also an opportunity to honor the memory of Laura Gori.

Conference venue

The conference will be held at Hotel Serapo which is located on the slopes of the Natural Park of Monte Orlando in the most beautiful and panoramic corner overlooking Serapo Beach, very close to the city center and the old town of Gaeta .

Rates for full board accommodation (including coffee-breaks and conference material): € 92,00 (single room) - € 80,00 (double room) plus local taxes (currently € 1,50/day per person)

How to reach Gaeta and Hotel Serapo

Gaeta is in the gulf of Serapo between Rome and Naples so you can fly both to Rome or to Naples.

From Rome Fiumicino Airport "Leonardo da Vinci" take a train to ROMA TERMINI (the main railways station of Rome) and, once there, take a train to FORMIA-GAETA.

From Rome Ciampino Airport reach by bus or train ROMA TERMINI and, once there, take a train to FORMIA-GAETA.

From Naples Capodichino Airport reach by bus the Central Railway Station in Piazza Garibaldi and, once there, take a train to FORMIA-GAETA.

At the Formia-Gaeta station you will find shuttle busses to Gaeta. Bus schedules will be available after September 12. If you prefer you can take a taxi.

You can get information about train schedules and buy tickets at the Italian Railways web-site www.trenitalia.com (you have to select trains from ROMA TERMINI to FORMIA-GAETA or from FORMIA-GAETA to ROMA TERMINI). See here (1-2-3-4) for train schedules on Saturday, Sunday and Thursday.

You can reach Gaeta also by car. If you drive from Rome take Highway A1 (Autostrada A1) direction Naples, exit Cassino and follow directions for Gaeta passing through Formia. From Rome is also possible to take the S.S. n.148 (Pontina) or S.S. n.7 (Appia). Once you have passed Terracina take the S.S. 213 (Flacca) to Gaeta. If you drive from Naples, take Highway A1 (Autostrada A1) direction Rome, exit Cassino and follow directions for Gaeta passing through Formia.

The hotel is located directly on the beach, just a ten minute walk from the old city of Gaeta.

Tourist information

Bus timetable from Formia-Gaeta Station to the city of Gaeta can be found here. BE CAREFUL: timetable is valid just till September 12. For actual timetable during the workshop days see the webpage after September 12.

NEW: BUS TIMETABLE

The taxi fare from Formia-Gaeta Station to Hotel Serapo is €20 (up to 3 people) or €30 (up to 8 people). It is best to book the taxi in advance by calling Mr. Luigi Fantasia (+39 3284675009).

On Tuesday afternoon we will organize a walk in the old city of Gaeta. A contribution to cover the expenses of the guide and the admissions to the monuments will be required.

The conference will start on Sunday at 14:15 and will end on Thursday at 13:00.

The Workshop Dinner will take place on Tuesday, September 19th. There is no additional fee for participants staying at Hotel Serapo. Participants staying elsewhere can book the Workshop Dinner at the hotel desk not later than Monday, September 18th. The cost is €40 per person.

Prepare your abstract following the given LaTeX template and send it to the SMART Organizing Committee before June 25, 2017.

The registration at the conference is free of charge, but it is requested for organizing reasons.
Please, fill in the Registration Form, rename it as "SMART2017-RegForm_LastName" and send it to the SMART Organizing Committee before July 10, 2017.

Please, make your hotel reservation on your own. To reserve a room at Hotel Serapo contact Antonella Silvestri before July 10, 2017.
After this date rooms will be not guaranteed. Gaeta is a touristic location, we suggest you to book in advance.

A selection of original research papers related to SMART2017 Conference will be included in a special issue of Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics. All submissions will be peer reviewed according to the procedure of the journal. The expected date of publication is October, 2018. Further information can be found here.
