The Rome airport system, consists of Rome Fiumicino "Leonardo
da Vinci" intercontinental airport and Rome Ciampino "Giovan
Battista Pastine" airport.
Leonardo
da Vinci Airport
Leonardo da Vinci Airport, known as Fiumicino Airport, is
located in Fiumicino, 30 km (18 miles) from Rome.
To reach the hotels participants can take the "Leonardo
Express" train which arrives at Termini railway station,
conveniently located in downtown Rome. It leaves every 30
minutes and takes about 30 minutes to reach Termini, without
intermediate stops.
Giovan

Rome Giovan Battista Pastine Airport, known as Ciampino
Airport, is the budget airlines and charter flights airport,
situated 15 km (9 miles) from Rome city centre.
Taxi service to Ciampino Airport is available. There is no
rail transport to Ciampino Airport. Several low-cost airlines
provide transportation by bus to Termini railway station.
By
Train
Eurostar trains connect Rome with a wide range of other
European cities. Rome's central train station "Termini" is
conveniently located in the heart of the city.
By Car
Through Italy's main motorway, the Autostrada del Sole (A1),
which runs from the north to the south of the peninsula, Rome
is well connected with all European cities.
Quite literally, no other city
in the world even comes close to Rome's beauty and artistic
prowess.
The sunny disposition of Roman dwellers and the city's
exquisite cuisine, make for an all the more incomparable
setting.
Banks, Currency & Foreign Exchange
Italy's official currency is the Euro. Currency can be
exchanged at all local banks. These are open weekdays from
8:30 to 13.30 and from 14.45 to 15.45 (afternoon opening may
vary depending on the bank). Saturdays and Sundays, currency
can be exchanged at the Termini railway station, at the
airport and at foreign exchange points throughout the city
centre. Most hotels, restaurants and shops accept foreign
currency and major credit cards. ATM machines are located
throughout the city.
Climate
The weather in Rome in April is good. Average temperatures
range from 8°C to 20°C (46°F to 68°F).

appliances could require an adapter.

Taxes
Like most other European countries, Italy imposes a value
added tax (VAT) on most goods and services purchased in the
country. This tax is known as IVA. It is normally included in
the price of most goods and services. The rate stands at
21%, 10% for catering services.
Time
Rome is one hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).
Difference with other major cities are London: -1 hour; New
York City: -6 hours; Sydney: + 10 hours; Tokyo: + 8 hours.
Tipping
Service is included in the bill in bars and restaurants.
Tipping is not mandatory but is welcomed. Most of the time a
service charge (servizio) is included in your restaurant bill.
This should not be confused with the cover charge (coperto),
which is a charge for bread and table settings.
Public Transportation
Numerous bus lines connect all areas of the city. The
underground has two lines, Linea A and Linea B.
The two lines intersect at Termini Railway station. The cost
of the surface and underground transportation is the same.
Tickets of different time limit and itinerary are available
at ATAC counters, news-stands, tobacconists and automatic
ticket dispensers, but not in buses. All tickets must be
validated at the beginning of the first trip either at
underground station or on buses.

Taxis
Licensed taxis are white and can be recognized by the sign
"TAXI" on the roof and by the identifying licence number on
the doors. Do not take any car that is not an authorized
Rome city taxi or trust people who approach you offering
private taxi service. In the city centre there are a number
of ranks where taxis may be picked up. Taxis may also be
hailed in the street by signalling the driver or ordered by
calling one of the taxi call centres, which will send you a
vehicle.
To reach the INdAM Institute,
please take the corridor on your right after getting inside
the Mathematics Department "G. Castelnuovo" (see the map), inside the campus of Sapienza
Università di Roma, from its main entrance, and
follow it round to a staircase. Then go up to the first
floor where you find the door of the INdAM Institute on your
